At this point so many things have come to light that I suppose I should feel vindicated. September 11th, 2001 I told my husband, 'Mark my words, it doesn't matter who did this, we're invading Iraq'. I also spent a fair amount of time preaching to the choir, as it were, about how insane and stupid and cruel and barbaric that would be. My poor husband must love it when I get laryngistis.
Since September 11th we have:
)Invaded Afghanistan.
)Invaded Iraq.
)Tortured POW's.
)Disdained the opinions of our international allies.
)Embezzeled billions of taxpayer's dollars.
)Murdered hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians.
)Destroyed a secular culture and replaced it with a religious extremist one.
)Called anyone that disagreed with these international crimes a 'traitor'.
)Flaunted the Geneva Convention.
)Disdained the United Nations.
)Lost a major portion of our own civil rights and liberties.
)Held corrupt elections in this, the bastion of Democracy.
)Killed a minimum of three thousand of America's best and brightest.
)Ignored North Korea so that they now have nuclear capabilities.
)Allowed American citizens to die in Katrina because all our resources were overseas.
)Took the embezzeled money away from public education, health care, elder care, and veterans care.
)Been lied to by our own government to allow them to perpetrate their crimes.
)Seen a frightening resurgence of religious extremism in our own country.
)Actually argued about who can marry who when our own soldiers are dieing in an illegal war.
Did I miss anything major?
