The October 18 Molly Ivins' article "Media behemoth tramples fairness" traces connection between the Sinclair Broadcasting Group media concentration, its political and financial ties with right-wing Republicans, and the ideologically bias content of its programs. Sinclair's planning to broadcast a slanderous ad against John Kerry shows that the Republicans, having no positive programs of their own, are desperately running a negative campaign of "character assassination".
Ivins' striking comparison of Sinclair's phenomenon with fascist propaganda is a bitter irony. Goebbels, the Nazi's minister of propaganda, said that if a lie is repeated frequently, people finally will believe in it.
The Republican big corporate money "speaks" through Big Media propaganda. The huge media corporations has became the "fourth branch" of the same political power along with the Republican administration, the Republican majority in Congress, and a conservative majority in the Supreme Court. And we call this democracy?
