On the Lighter Side:
Praying Mantis

_______

My husband works second shift and we home school our boys. We chose homeschooling for a number of different reasons but one of them was so that we could all actually see each other and spend time together. Well about two weeks ago I had taken my husband a cup of coffee and gone into our room to get him up. Both of the boys ended up following me into the room and we were all sprawled out on the bed just visiting and being together. Out of the clear blue our thirteen year old, Conner asked me, "Mom did you know that male Praying Mantis's get their HEADS bitten off?" I responded that yes I was aware of this phenomenon from the insect world. You could tell that this had been really bothering him as he proceeded to ask me "Why do you figure the girls do that mom?"

My response? Well I looked at all three of them, Conner, our nine year old Ian, and my husband Jim, and replied, "Well on days when the three of you are being particularly boneheaded I'd have to say it's because female BUGS are smarter than female HUMANS!!!" Within about three seconds I had three different pillows flying at me......lol.
